What stirred Dr. Bohl to write his first novel?

There were several factors. His extensive background in athletics and strong belief in family values stirred his emotions early on, but it was his faith that drove him most. A favorite quote is from John 14:10, “The words that I say to you I do not speak on my own; but the Father who dwells in me does his work.”

Bohl wasn’t a writer by trade, how did he get started?

Renowned author, Don Snyder provided initial tutelage and reading Brenda Ueland’s If You Want To Write was enormously helpful. Reading and studying outstanding authors like Hemingway, Fitzgerald, and Tolstoy proved to also be time well spent.

I was told that Back Porch Swing and Getting to Thanksgiving would be great for anyone, but especially high school students. Why?

The novels speak directly to the significance of family values while addressing the importance of work ethic, honesty, and integrity. It greatly emphasizes that character counts and making the right choices in life is extremely beneficial.
